A question about Composite Splitters

I want to split a composite signal so I can send clean video to multiple glitch hardware boxes (and then switch between them), but when I use a Y splitter wire the distortion will affect the other signals in the chain. Are powered splitters the way to go or will I have the same problem? I just want to know before i spend money on it. Thanks a lot.

Side note, I did buy a powered splitter on amazon and its for a car but the manual says it needs an input composite signal of 2 volts pp, so it won’t detect a normal composite signal and turn on. What kind of signal is it looking for? luckily it was cheap and I’m not out much money.

You need a composite DA (distribution amplifier). It will ensure that each output signal is strong enough without loading down the input or causing crosstalk.

Check eBay for a ‘composite video distribution amplifier’.

Awesome thanks so much!

This is one of my favorites. You have to build it yourself though.

It has three independent outputs for each input and you have two inputs.

Syntonie also builds an amplifier https://syntonie.ovh/produit/vu001b/ Not as many outputs but you don’t have to build it yourself (I use the Triple Video Distribution Amplifier for component signals)
