Any On-Camera HDMI monitor users?

Howdy! Do any peeps here use those small on-camera HDMI monitors? If so, any likes/dislikes/tips?

Seems handy and compact for monitoring r_e_c_u_r output on stage with my live music setup. I think one of these on-camera monitors with HDMI passthrough would be nifty.

Thanks!

…i am using a Yolobox Pro - a little bit more expensive, but a lot more functionality (and i had it laying around in a drawer as i have an Ultra and an Extreme too for my livestreams) - for such tasks…

…they should be available pretty cheap (compared to what i paid, at least) second hand as everyone is upgrading to the newer models…

I’ve just bought this. Pretty nice for the price. No MIDI trigger, no hdmi passthrough.

Whoa. That’s high tech! Can you play back recorded video straight from the touchscreen? Also… does it get hot?

That does look handy for a simple HDMI monitor. Whenever I’m using a RPi or similar I always awkwardly connect it to my TV or a projector. And, my initial post was unclear; I meant that I’d be using recur’s MIDI triggering :innocent:

Thanks!!

…yes, sure you can play back the recorded video - but usually you would move it to your computer and cut it there…

…then you could move the file back to the unit, add it as a ‘source’ and play it - several different modes as ‘loop’, ‘start every time from the beginning’ or ‘start where you left of last time’ are available - inbetween your live-stuff…

…i never realized the ‘Pro’ to get too hot, but i had the ‘Ultra’ shut down on me due to overheating in the middle of a livestream; i have since then provided the ‘Ultra’ and the ‘Extreme’ with an overkill-cooling-solution and an external touchscreen for my livestreams, so i can shut down or dim the display…

…i use the Pro only at home with HDMI-inputs, while i use the others almost exclusively with NDI cameras (three on the Ultra or six on the Extreme) with the odd HDMI-input here and there…

…the latest iteration of the setup is the addition of a dedicated MacBook Pro M1 which has eight NDI-sources attached to it - running OBS (to bundle the NDI-streams into one) and ‘Just in Mac Lite NDI’ (to record up to eight NDI-streams simultaneously) - which then presents one NDI-stream to the Yoloboxes, which pushes the possible camera-count to thirteen (or even more) cameras on the ‘Extreme’, or ten cameras (again not counting the additional HDMI-inputs) on the ‘Ultra’ - working with the older ‘Pro’ this would allow for eight cameras from OBS via HDMI (not NDI) plus two more HDMI-inputs…

…as i am diverting anyway i’ll add a link to the last livestream i made using six cameras:
