Cameras for rescanning

Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing well and life is treating you amazingly. I’m currently debating about upgrading my camera to get better rescans when recording my CRTs and I figured I’d ask what everyone else is using for their rescans. I’m open to other methods too, I was using a capture card for a while but I’m not sure if it burned out or what but it doesn’t allow me to capture the image at a good quality and is darker so I ended up switching a camera, I’m using the Cannon EOS 90D, and it works great at times I can get amazing quality but other times the video comes out muddy and not as quality as I’d like. I already make a topic about help with the camera and kinda decided it’s time for me to upgrade to something that is more video centric and will get me the best quality. The budget is I’d say from 1-2k, so if you have any recommendations plz let me know! I’d love to know how you all are rescanning your crts and what works best for you so I can gain some insight as to how your art looks! Here’s some references of videos I make.

i think within that range you could find something well decent from the panasonic gx or sony alpha ranges. i think panasonics are a little more feature heavy for video but i haven’t really kept up with this world recently.

i wonder if the muddy video quality at times has to do with any white balance settings in the camera?

Thank you Andrei I always appreciate your advice! And it might be I was messing with my settings today and turned off the auto white balance and tuned it myself and it looked ok but now the color isn’t as bright so I still just gotta mess around with the settings! Thank you so much.

np. i personally tend to try and keep things a little on the darker side when i rescan, find its easier in in the post processing steps to get brights to pop out more without any blooming as opposed to trying to get nice black levels
