Hi, does anyone have recommendations for a suitable replacement tact switch part for the larger Edirol V4 buttons (transformer, input select, etc)? It’s part number 00125590, a “soft tact” switch, as opposed to the smaller push buttons.
A company in Australia sells packs of a replacement part but I’m in the US.
I do a lot of Roland video mixer repairs but I don’t think I’ve ever has to replace these switches before. I’ll take a look and see if I can find a suitable readily-available replacement.
Keith Meiere did a lot of research into Roland tact buttons and put it on this page.
Whilst the exact model you need may not be on this page, there are plenty of part numbers, and sizes. You can then cross ref. with the manufacturer (omron for instance)
with the size you need in the datasheet.
It’s pretty eye-bending work, but it’s satisfying in the end!
Probably you’ll need a wider switch, though sometimes it’s confusing as the actuator (plastic part you press) is way bigger than the actual switch.
Sometimes the tact switches are a soft action (VS series transport buttons for instance)
and these can be harder to find.
Yep, the soft action ones are what I need. I already sourced some of the hard push buttons. From what I can tell, this part was used also on Roland 505s.
I’m sure they are a standard part, the soft ones. I think you might do better on price, they usually are about 30ct each. But then they do sell, often, from bigger distributors who charge more for shipping - so it can be a balance between cost per unit/shipping.
