hi all. old-ish (but not that old) recovering amiga nut here. used to control DPS TBC over ARexx from Bars ‘n’ Pipes, mapping MIDI mod wheel to h/s/v etc.
I’ve discovered in the past few years that the DPS TBC serial control protocol appears to just be SysEx. I’m wondering if anybody here has ever reverse-engineered the SysEx. I could see this becoming a hobby I might engage in, now that all my Amigas are dying and I’m plopping the TBCs into other ISA busses.
The serial cables which are compatible with the side edge connectors of the TBCs are hard to come by, but I do have /one/. I am aware that the serial port can communicate at 9600 or 31250 (MIDI) baud rate. The idea of sending MIDI SysEx at 9600 baud over a standard non-MIDI serial port is compelling… but I also recognize there’s only so much TTL, and I am aware of existential concerns vs more fruitful pursuits, etc.
