Found a VX-T33F pretty cheap untested on eBay, when it arrived found that it mostly works as intended but there is no input video visible. Found a video on Youtube of someone with a similar problem who fixed it by recapping the whole PCB. I’ve followed suit, and many of the caps had gone bad, but still no input!
A bit out of my depth now with where to start looking for further issues. Any suggestions on potential causes / places to start with troubleshooting?? Would love to get this thing working again. Any help greatly appreciated !!
Freedom Enterprises is the expert on these. Recapping is not troubleshooting. So now, in addition to troubleshooting the original issue, you have to take into account if anything happened during recapping.
I had the same problem. Actually still have it. Afaik it has a pretty involved calibrating process described in the service manual that you need to go through once you’re done with the recap. I haven’t tried it yet, as I am still waiting for the oscilloscope to arrive, but I can give a heads up if I ever get to actually do it.
Thanks for the response, just checked the service manual and the calibration looks pretty intimidating haha. Luckily i’m still getting some use out of it by keying out the blank background with a video mixer. If you ever get round to calibrating it and getting the input working let me know and maybe i’ll take the plunge.
Yeah, let’s see how it goes. Even if the osc arrives soon, it’s not exactly top priority for me. Im probably gonna get around to doin it when I’ll have to procrastinate doing something else.
