This is so cool! I really love this. Makes me wonder if you could manually take-up the tape and keep it in that kind of an arrangement, skipping most of the VHS cassette related thingsā€¦

Iā€™ve been looking into possibility of creating tape loops with VHS without cutting the tape. Itā€™s not exactly the subject since the goal here is to have two video drums, but I was told to post it in this thread too.

Without cutting the tape, the tape must have some sort of spring-loaded or other mechanism that pulls the tape back into the cassette. We started investigating a possibility of a spring loaded lever that adds controlled tensionā€¦ this all is just fantasizing for now though.
