My Videonics MX Pro DV RCA inputs has randomly started to only send white noise out of the switcher.
This problem occurred today for the first time when trying to send some video signal through the board. I have never had any other problems with the switcher before like this or for much at all aside from occasionally crashing due to overheating after using for a while. (solved by power cycling the board and letting it cool down)
My signal flow is digital video out of OBS to HDMI->RCA converter into the board. The Signal goes from the board video out to an analog tv monitor which I then send from a monitor to another computer to record the video effects through SDI to RCA to capture card. The tv monitor and HDMI/RCA converter are both set to NTSC.
I have tripled checked the connections and routing and everything is as it’s supposed to be. I have also tried different sources (Mini DV Cam, other computer sending video) and just about every RCA cable I own, and everything keeps displaying this white noise. Both the monitor and the computer receiving the monitor’s signal are connected and getting signal (white box)
The switcher itself is powering up fine, all the lights are on, and when I send the signal out of the preview monitor I can see its interface/toggle around. Through this page it looked as though the switcher is recognizing the RCA cables I had connected - there were frames around the white noise signal in the first 2 channels where the other 2 channels had no frames or signal.
The last time I used it was around a month ago (it worked fine). It has been sitting on a shelf since with no notable interactions or mishaps. I understand it’s now “dated” tech and could be a sign of getting old, but I’m not sure for one where the problem is happening and second what could have caused it.
Aside from trying S-Video signal (I don’t have a cable), I’m stumped on what else to try and resolve the issue.
I’m curious if anyone has ever experienced any problem like this or has any leads on things I could try to troubleshoot the problem. I’ve spent the majority of tonight reading forums related to it with no luck of anyone mentioning this problem.
