Videomixer mp5 module to replace av video in

hello,

I hope this is the right place for this idea

would it be possible to replace or add the video-in and audio in, with these mp5-player boards into any av-mixer or a panasonic wj-ave series mixer
looks possible, maybe already done by someone?
I already searched for the circuits for the mixer i have. (Wj-ave7) Any tips ?
At the moment still learning basic electronics.

Hey welcome

the module you linked already has every output you need. This would be a straight forward mod as far as wiring the signals goes. Do you want to install it inside the mixer?

In the specs of this module it says to supply 12V and 2A max. This might be too much for the internal +12V power supply though. Maybe you can add a second 12V supply for your module. Looking at the schematics of the power supply section I’m not sure how much power the transformer can handle. You can still try, but it may damage the transformer…

Nice.

Yes ,i would like to install it inside the mixer. Or as inputd for a self made dirty video mixer, the idea is to upgrade old a/v(-input) gear, less cables an weight to carry around (laptop/vcr/dvd)
I wonder if resolution from mp4-files to mixer av in is something i need to think about.

For me this will be the project goal for this year to motivate myself learning electronics.

Thanks :v:

Cool idea!

Gear that uses a 12V external power supply could work great. You can attach the player internally to 12V somewhere close to the 12V input and use a bigger external power supply.

As I said I’m just not sure if the mixer can take the additional power draw. You can still try if you want. However my suggestion is to test this first on some other gear to see how the mod works.

Hmm, from a video file view the resolution is not that big. NTSC / PAL are both SD Video quality. Video CD quality is worse. This module should look alright.
