Buttons unresponsive on Panasonic WJ-MX30 mixer

I recently acquired a Panasonic WJ-MX30 mixer and it’s been working for about a month but suddenly I can no longer change any of its settings and none of the LEDs on the board light up.

I can power the unit on, the T-bar works for transitions, and it inputs and ouputs video on each channel but I’m stuck with this specific wipe pattern.

The only other things working are the level knob for the matte generator and key level on the downstream key section. I opened it up to see if any connections were loose and there’s nothing I can see that’s immediately wrong, just a bit dusty.

Has anyone else faced similar issues and has a solution?

…this might be it: the button might be stuck? - or have some short?…

…you could try to thouroughly clean and/or disconnect that button to see if that helps…

It’s not just that one button, it’s all of them.

I was actually in the middle of cleaning it when posting this message. Sadly that didn’t fix anything, though it’s now sparkly clean!

From this thread I discovered JVS Visual who is actually local to me and has repaired video mixers! I have gotten in touch to see if they have any insights.

…ah! - ok, i understood that there is just that one transition that is stuck/on permanently…

…sparkly-clean is good though :face_with_peeking_eye:

…is there a possibility that you shortened something on the ‚button-board‘ when cleaning the unit? - perhaps some liquid that shorts some contacts and ‚drying‘ the unit before the next use might help already?…

That’s possible, though the issue occurred before cleaning. I’ll give it a few days and see what happens.
