TBC2 Fan replacement. I had this fan already, so I used it. I have been impressed with noctua fans, although no fan is ever silent of course  I made this jig and a stepped drill bit to increase the diameter of the hole (trickiest part of the mod, fine with a jig though. The cable could be shortened though I am able to fit the connector in without trouble and without soldering so . . .

The original fan made a hideous noise from the start, perhaps it was defective. Anyway the replacement works fine with only 59.8 degrees reached after an hour of upconverting 2x CVBS to 720p (LZX recommended heat test - it should stay under 85 degrees - much overhead)

Replacement fan uses 0.05a instead of 0.07a of the original. Airflow is hugely increased as expected by the size difference in the two fans.

This model fan (40-40-20 @2v) was about 15e. As I had it going spare I think it was a great replacement. I have two other fans in my cases, I used noctua 5v versions (to reduce the chance of noise on the 12v line as they use the case PSU (Erica Synths 104HP powered)

Because I had spare Raspberry Pi heatsinks, I put some on the other chips on the TBC2.

I was busy for a couple of hours with the mod, tho I have quite some exp with modding.

@fairplay For reference, I recall we were discussing this mod : )

Life has been a lot this year, and I haven’t been able to do as much with video as I’d like, but I did just finish building a Mainbow this morning! I need to get more rack space before I can really get into it but here are some build pictures and a very quick bit of video! :smiley_cat::tv: (Background audio isn’t connected to the video, it’s just good soldering jazz)

Still just music. I’ve been going through a lot of mid 2010s and piecing together albums out of them.

EDIT: and a new live band. /Fiest show was a week ago, next one is this Sunday.

It’s a Pusherman Eurorack Tester board that’s available a couple places. I don’t use it a ton but it’s super useful!

Some friends and I got a grant to put on a visual/performance art fest next year focused on climate change and how it effects our community. It’s called Last Earth and will happen Earth Day next year and we are just starting to tease it.

nice. where’s that going to take place? I can’t view the IG link

Is there a way for me to submit Datamosh videos for the playlist?

Recently I’ve really got into AI, I’ve been re-texturing old videos and creating my own Also, here is a retexture of Rick and Morty. https://youtu.be/pEjCXDhr28A

I’ve also been working on music, just dropped a lo-fi album which I incorporated a full visual mixtape that was generated using stable diffusion.
Discarded Dreams Mixtape: https://youtu.be/p8dF-J6F_f8

Along with that, I have created an umbrella term for all my aliases that I guess you would consider some kind of band called 12matt3r peep the website
Still kind of a work in progress http://12matt3r.com/

I’m sure there’s more than one last thing. I really been trying to push my YouTube the other day. I broke 100,000 please. I still need about 300 and something subscribers did that 1000 mark but my watch time is through the roof. Thanks to a bunch of Bassnectar art I’ve been making but I’ll take it https://youtu.be/kmm6udgnjmM

Not sure if I’ve mentioned this year, but I was a part of the circuit bent festival and I was lucky enough to take part in bumpfest on the Ryan Celsius channel, which being a part of the channel has been a goal for awhile so check that bucket list. Hope you’re all doing well. I did about to rap things to bed and I’m gonna put you through that.

Hi Scanlines.xyz

Can distorted video signals be recorded with the AJA IO-HD machine using the “Reference I/O” connectors? I didn’t succeed. Maybe I have to use the REF I/O connectors?

From the manual it is not clear how I should connect the video signal and if AJA io-hd has an internal tbc or should I connect a TBC machine in the REFERENCE I/O connectors first.

Since December 2022 I’ve been trying to digitally record video clips with line signals by making cut-ups with a passive switch and with effects for signal distortion visible only on TV.

I tried digitizing the video going from AVE5 with a video result of 50% compared to the performance, then with Sony xv900 which perhaps has no TBC result 0% black screen in recording.

Does AJA IO-HD have internal TBC? How would you cable the reference i/o signals?

Last year I started working on a project I call Compressure. It’s basically a Python script around ffmpeg to do some really nasty datamoshing-type work at scale. It’s been sitting idle for a few months, but this weekend I found inspiration to build out a GUI for it using PyQt! Here’s a few samples and the current GUI:

If anyone’s interested in learning more, please feel free to ask! I’m really hoping to build it out more such that it’s playable live as a synthesis or VJ system.

That looks really good.

Yeah the repo’s a bit of a mess right now (quite a few unused components), but the code’s all at GitHub - AudreyBeard/compressure. The README’s got a ton of info, but I’m happy to augment/interpret it as needed! I’d also love to get your feedback if you try it out

You’ll need ffmpeg and Python3, and you can install with make or pip. The GUI’s accessed with python ui.py and the CLI with python main.py

Thanks. I’ve installed python but I can’t get any further with it at the moment. I’ll carry on having a bash at getting it running, it does look very nice results : )
